I’ve Made A Decision

This was important for me and important for you as I’ve gotten the impression from reading comments. I’ve even made my second post of the day which never happens which shows how much I care. But I’ve decided that it would be best not to go through with this project. It was fun. I enjoyed coming up with assignments and reading your takes on other MLBlogs. I learned a lot.

I am happy with what I did accomplish. My goal was to bring together the community during a negative time and provide some positivity, and I did that.

Over time, I may do some of those things you suggested to keep MLBlogs a great community, such as highlighting an unknown blog or grading one. But this is still my blog, a Mets blog.

So tomorrow I am going to post again, but it will be a Mets post, or a baseball post. Not an MLBlogs post or a project post.

So if you want my opinion and you like this blog for what it is, come back. If you only read for the project and your own good, you can not come back and carry on with your blog and your life. I am fine with whatever you choose.

But I accomplished my goal, and I’m going back to my previous blog style. Hopefully I gained a few new readers but if not at least I found a few new blogs that I enjoy reading.

Happy blogging everyone!

Project: I’m Coming Clean

Well up until yesterday I was very excited and happy about this project. It was getting me publicity, it was entertaining my fellow MLBloggers, and everyone else was excited for the end result. But yesterday’s assignment didn’t get very good feedback. A lot of you didn’t feel right saying who’s blog is better, and I completely understand. I didn’t think it would  turn out like that. In the end, that would be a very important assignment for me to use for the final project, as the project would reflect a lot of how you responded.

So I am not so sure that this project will be a good idea after all. It might excite you and give you a great feeling like I was hoping, or it might dissapoint you and make you hate me. So I am going to have to change it up a little bit. Instead of making new assignments and working this up, I am going to come straight out and tell you what it is. If you feel it not a good idea and we didn’t get enough opinions and I would make it too biased, I will not do it. The project will not happen. But if you want it to happen, if you think it is a good idea and you want to see how things are arranged, I will do it. You just need to leave your comment and I will take them into consideration.

I was going to do MLBlogs Awards.

I wanted to pick the best MLBlog for each team, without letting you know exactly what you were choosing. I was also going to pick the best blog nobody reads, the blog with the most potential, the most unique blog, etc. I would have an honorary section for the people who would have won an award if it wasn’t for the great competition with their team. I would have had a section for the people who really helped. I would have linked everyone’s blog.

But if you don’t like it, I won’t do it. All you have to do is say that it isn’t a good idea, and I will turn right back into a blog about the Mets.

This was about you, but you didn’t seem to like it. I am writing this from the bottom of my heart. This project was to make other MLBloggers happy and have them feel good about themselves and the community. I don’t want to dissapoint. I don’t want to make people think they have bad blogs.

You gave your opinion all the way before. Now is when it really counts.

Fourth Assignment

This time I just have a few simple questions. But this might be the most important yet! I think we are getting pretty close!

First, who is better (please answer with your honest opinion)

Mets’ Main Man or The 1 Constant?

Julia’s Rants or The Future Blog of the Red Sox?

Eat, Sleep, Baseball or Yawkey Way Yaker?

Confessions of a She-Fan or Baseball, the Yankees and Life?

Next, do you consider Red State Blue State a Tigers blog, a Cardinals blog, or an all MLB blog?

Do you still consider Hardball an MLBlog? He moved on to Blogspot instead but still comments on MLBlogs. This is important as it will decide if he gets a spot on the project.

What are your thoughts on Pick Me Up Some Mets? It might just be me, but I hate seeing it on the Latest Leaders all the time when Zoe Rice never updates it.

Thanks for your opinions! We’re getting close!

Third Assignment

Okay, I can’t wait for people to come and answer. I am just going to move on and they can catch up. If they don’t want a say that’s fine, I already think I know what will go into the project. However, I don’t want to come off like I don’t care if people don’t participate, it’s just that the project can move on without them. Since I really want more people to help, I am asking you to do one simple thing: Just mention this in your next blog post. It doesn’t have to be a whole post about this, just a little line. If you do, I will add a section to the project with a list of people who advertised. And since I can’t check every single MLBlog every single update, just leave a comment hee telling me you did it and you’ll be added to the project.

Now, here is the third assignment. Bob, you asked how many there would be. I don’t have a number yet. Basically I have an outline of the project with holes. Once I patch the holes, that’ll probably be it. But, I do want to get lots of people to see this and participate and see the end result, so if I finish this early without lots of opinions I might just make up some milky assignments or ask people to go back and redo some they missed.

Today, I want people to name 5-10 blogs from each division they frequently check out. Try to keep them even between teams, as I want each team to be represented in the project. A lot of teams I can’t name any bloggers for, which would really stink for the project. So if you can, try to do it kind of like this (I’ll use the NL East for example):

1. Mets blog

2. Mets blog

3. Phillies blog

4. Phillies

5. Phillies

6. Braves

7. Braves

8. Nationals

9. Marlins

10. Marlins

It can be up to 4 blogs per team, with a minimum of 5 teams. Remember, 5-10. And don’t make it blogs that you know of. If you don’t like it and don’t read it, don’t put it down.

Second Assignment

First off, I’d like to thank everybody for checking back on this and helping with the project. I was very happy to see that it put me number 31 on the Latest Leaders! Of course, I’d be happier if this project was finished and everyone saw what was being kept in store for them. I can’t wait to read all the comments I get when you see the end result, you’ll love it! I know that the longer this takes, the more people will lose interest, so please hurry up and help me gte this done! Now, I am going to give the second assignment. If you haven’t already, please go back and do the previous one. The previous assignment will always be open to doing no matter how far up I am.

So, this time around, I have a few questions for you to answer.

1. Why do you enjoy MLBlogs?

2. What is one thing you wish other MLBloggers would do?

3. In one word, describe your own blog.

4. List your top 5 favorite blogs (FAN ONLY).

5. List up to 3 pro blogs you enjoy reading.

6. Which do you like better, music or visual art?

Thanks a bunch guys. This really is going to rock in the end. I just want this to be a laid back, fun kind of thing, because although it is a lot of work I am really enjoying it. The best part will be the end, I promise.

And on a baseball note, the Mets signed Livan Hernandez to a minor league deal. Finally, if Omar is going to sign minor league deals, at least he decided to sign someone who has potential!

Mets Seem to Be Done For Real Now; Still Recruiting

While I would like to stick with just the project for now, this is still a Mets blog and today’s news was too big not to blog about. Bobby Abreu signed with the Angels for around $5 million, and Adam Dunn signed with the Nationals, but we still don’t know the money. Either way, this means that the Mets are done for the offseason. The top players left on the market for any position are gone now, and I am expecting anyone without a contract now to sign within the next two days. The Mets signed Jose Valentin again, which makes me very happy. In case you didn’t know, Valentin was the Mets’ left fielder in 2006, and the second baseman in 2007. He was in AAA in 2008 after getting hurt, but we got him back. He is one of the Mets’ trademarked “Super Subs.” If the Mets have any money left, I hope they spend it on Ivan Rodriguez, but I just don’t see him as a fit in New York.

Now, for the project that all you seem so interested it (I am too, I really wish it could move faster). While I am very pleased with the number of you that showed your interest and the quick new readers I got for my blog, I still think we need more people to join in. Trust me, this really is a group community project. I just happen to be running it. I am going to continue to comment on blogs and advertise it. If you want this to go faster maybe you will help. Eventually, I will begin posting questions for you to answer and assigning people another MLBlog to do…. something with. I really want to say the whole plan now but it wouldn’t make for as great an ending as I am planning. So please, just be patient and keep checking back, and you will be highly rewarded!

HUGE Project Coming Up

After the A-Rod news, and the Barry Bonds case, and teh Miguel Tejada case, I am afraid to read other MLBlogs anymore. It is all bad news, and I don’t want to hear it anymore. I want to blog about something good. I want to bring back cheer to the other MLBloggers, who seemed very mad and disappointed, both on their own blogs and on Julia’s petition to Bud Selig. I want to do something that makes them happier than seeing themselves atop the Latest Leaders.

It will be hard. It will be tough. But I know what I want to do. For now, it’s a secret.

But I can’t do it without you. I really want to get as many MLBloggers’ opinions on this as I can. Once it is released what it is, you’ll understand why. So I am asking you to please, PLEASE come back to this blog often for updates on the project. I will be asking your opinion. I will be working extra hard to comment on as many other blogs as I can, so other bloggers can find out. I really want you to tell other people to check this out, because I guarantee you that you might be genuinely surprised and happy from what I come out with, and you might even earn some publicity for your own blog along the way.

So please come back here, there will be a major project.
